Our first catapult design was the ballista catapult, commonly known as a slingshot. We created the model above in the pictures to try to get an idea for what we wanted to build for a final large catapult. This design didn't work very well, so we decided to scrap it and build another model, the mangonel. We were past the prototyping phase at this point, so we only have a sketch and a final model of our mangonel catapult.
Here is the basic design for what we wanted our mangonel to look like. We also included measurements for what we wanted our catapult's size to be. We ended up changing this size in the end, but we still use our initial sketch for reference. Our mangonel catapult is
Our mangonel catapult is made from 100% recycled wood we found in the shed or in Mr. Sevilla's classroom. We purchased no wood for this project. My dad gave us the bungee cords to create the catapult and we used the container from them to have a place to hold the baseball before launching.
