how do you feel you incorporated the design thinking methodologies into your catapult?
I think our group used the design thinking methodologies a lot in our catapult building process. We tried to think of a problem to solve, and build our catapult around that. I think we could've used the design thinking methodologies a bit more in our design phase, but we did have some group difficulties that prevented us from doing that together.
What would you do differently to have a better outcome (design, product, prototype, what have you)?
I would've definitely given my group a bit more time to complete the catapult construction. We had some internal difficulties which delayed us from starting to build and I think it took a toll on our catapult structure and stability. At the last minute we were scrambling to find a replacement for a part that had broken during our testing phase, and we didn't have enough time so we had to resort to holding a PVC pipe in place during launches.
How do you feel you were able to work together with your group? What are your strengths and weaknesses in group work?
Overall, I think my group worked very well together. There were some internal strifes that delayed our construction but I don't think that affected our group dynamic. My strengths in group work are that I like to lead and be in charge, but I also like to listen to other people's ideas and take everyone's opinions into account. Some weaknesses I have in group work are that I like to control things and that sometimes puts a burden on me to purchase materials, build on my own time, etc.
How has doing this project impacted how you will work in my class and in others from now and into the future.
Doing this first major project in your class has given me a feel for what I can expect in the future. I think we will be doing a lot of projects like this again and I am looking forward to what creative ideas me and my group can come up with in the future.
