A description of where you completed your career day shadow, the person you shadow, and the career you shadowed. (An overall summary of what you did on career day)
For career day, I shadowed two employees from HP. They were both involved in research and development of future HP products. I also got to see the development of a new app, which lets you print pictures from social media. I also got to see a new printing press product, which lets you print and bind a whole book in under 45 seconds.
What was one thing you participated/observed that you enjoyed about the career you shadowed? Was there anything you participated/observed that you didn't like about the career you shadowed?
One thing I really enjoyed about the career I shadowed was how interactive everyone was with each other. It was a lot like my school environment with groups and collaboration, and it was really familiar to me because of my experience at HTHNC. There wasn't really anything I didn't like about my career shadow, but if I had to choose one thing I didn't like about my experience, it would be that photography was very restricted to only a few areas showing publicly available products.
Was there anything you learned about the career you shadowed you didn't previously know would be a component of the career?
I realized that no matter what job I got within a specific technology career, I would need to know how to code and how to use programs such as CAD, sketchup, and adobe illustrator.
Based on everything you observed and participated in on career day, is this a career you think you would like to pursue in the future? If so, why? If not, why and what is a career you think you might want to pursue in the future?
I think this is a career I would like to pursue in the future. I would be very interested in a technology career and a specific career in product development. I think the opportunities that I am given at high tech high can really help me succeed at this specific type of career.
